"SEAT" A lifetime
For many retirees, pre-retirees and current workers, SEAT represented and represents a lifetime, a long story to tell their children and grandchildren.
Today is my tribute to you / as you have devoted long hours and decades of your life.
Entire neighborhoods were built, working-class neighborhoods where thousands of people left their homes to go to the shops of the Zona Franca. Bellvitge and the rest of l'Hospitalet, Sant Feliu, Santa Coloma, Sant Boi de Llobregat, in the same district of the Zona Franca, etc ... Seat has many years of history, and along with her extended factory Pamplona that no longer belongs to Seat and above the Martorell factory, which is currently being developed where most of the activity.
In its period of greatest expansion but remember correctly, the company eventually grew to more than 32,000 workers. Between Zona Franca and Pamplona. It produced hundreds of cars a day and even went to work on Saturdays.
Dozens of models have been manufactured, most famously, the 600, but many more. My father had the 127, Malaga and Cordoba as amended. One of the flagship car brand is the Ibiza.
I know there was a time that is made even visits to the Zona Franca plant, too bad he did not go and even more proud sentirnme the work of my father. More than 32 years working in the same company, going to walk through roads and fields, then car and then by bus. But not everything has been wonderful for the thousands of workers in the Seat. There were more than one ERE in the 80's and of course then too. My father like many others had to be at least 6 months at home, without going to work, with pay cut, tightening their belts to make ends meet and keep four with an income.
Currently the staff is very small taking into account the time, but I know I got to see different types of workshops, such as bodywork, paint, assembly, mechanical presses, spare parts, etc ... as well as offices.
not forget the hundreds of people who are now retired but once gave up his life for his family, company, and a neighborhood.
Thanks to all, especially you, my father.
